Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land, Jerusalem in Israel were presented with certificates to serve as testimonial that they have discharged one of the basic fundamentals of the Christian faith.
Over 300 Kaduna pilgrims attended this years pilgrimage in Jerusalem to show their devotion to God who according to Biblical Scripture sent Jesus to save the world.
The certificates of pilgrimage (JP) were handed to each pilgrim according to his group and their team leaders to ensure only pilgrims who attended this year’s pilgrimage to theHoly Land got the certificates.
Mr Philip Meyers while presenting the certificates, urged the recipients to inculcate in themselves the exemplary traits of Jesus Christ who showed love even to his adversaries at the point of crucifying him on the cross of Calvary.

Senate President David Mark, has restated Nigeria's commitment towards enhanced bilateral relationship with Sudan, Iran and Zambia.
The Senate President said in a separate audience with the Ambassadors of Sudan, Iran and Zambia in his office in Abuja that Nigeria was opening its doors for friendship across the globe, to attract investments.
He told the Ambassadors that the emerging trend in the world calls for global cooperation between and among nations to combat challenges of development as well as insecurity.
He specifically told the Sudanese Ambassador, Dr. Tagelsir Mahgroub Ali to relate to his home people and government to cooperate with United Nations peace mission which included Nigerians in the troubled territory on need to bring lasting peace in the area.

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has constituted a committee to explore the possibility of appealing the judgment of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that gave away the oil rich Bakassi Peninsular to neighbouring Cameroon.
President Jonathan along with the leadership of the National Assembly and other stakeholders took the decision to return to The Hague at a marathon meeting which ended at the early hours of yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Senate had last week passed a resolution mandating President Jonathan to appeal the ICJ ruling on Bakassi in view of the new facts that had emerged over the matter.

AUTHORITIES of Niger Republic have arrested five people near the Nigerian border suspected to belong to the militant Nigerian Islamist group known as Boko Haram, Niger security officials said.
The group has been blamed for more than 1,000 deaths in Nigeria since 2010. Observers said the suspects were using Niger as a transit route to link up with other militant groups like Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb, now controlling northern Mali.
“State Security Police arrested the five suspected Boko Haram members who entered Niger on Sunday through the Zinder region. They have been transferred to Niamey for further questioning,” a security official said.
Another security official said Niger authorities had heightened security along its border with Nigeria as the country intensifies its fight against the militant group, which wants to carve out an Islamic state in northern Nigeria.

A TOTAL of 171 female pilgrims who were detained by Saudi authorities in the City of Medinah were yesterday deported back to Nigeria.
The pilgrims who were from Taraba and Katsina states landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at about 5.30pm yesterday.
New Nigerian correspondent in Kano who was at the airport when the deported female pilgrims arrived said they looked emaciated, just as many of them broke down in tears.
It was gathered at press time yesterday that another 500 female pilgrims from Nigeria were still being detained by Saudi authorities at King Abdul Azeez International Airport in Jeddah.

VICE President Mohammed Namadi Sambo is one of the Heads of government delegations who attended the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday.

FOLLOWING the flood that has ravaged Adamawa state, the Federal Government is set to construct buffer dams between the Nigeria and Cameroun borders along the River Benue as a permanent solution to the re-occurring flood.
The Minister of Water Resources, Mrs. Sarah Ochepa who was in the state with her Environment counterpart, Hajiya Hadiza Mailafiya to assess the impact of the flood, stated this after visiting some of the worst hit areas in the state capital.
