IN a bid to propagate Islam tenets in the world, the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) will soon launch its satellite television channel.
The National Chairman of JIBWIS, Shiekh Bala Lau who disclosed this yesterday at the opening ceremony of the JIBWIS 16th National Quranic Recitation Competition holding in Minna said the satellite television channel will be called “SUNNAH TV.”
According to him, the test transmission of the channel has already been carried out and all is set is for the take-off of the channel, adding that, the recitation of the Holy Quran and Hadith will feature prominently on the channel when the satellite television station starts.
Lau also said that other contents of programmes that will be aired on the channel was presently being worked out, expressing optimism that the channel, when it takes-off, will keep the youths from the unproductive addiction of football games and internet based activities and give them adequate knowledge of religious instructions.
The Quranic competition, Lau added, has helped its youths to attain their religious goals in life by ensuring that they excel in the recitation of the Holy Quran and adhered strictly to the Islamic tenets.
Earlier, the JIBWIS Spiritual leader, Shiekh Yahaya Jingir had called on government at all levels to be fair and just in their dealings with all segments of the society, stressing that, this development will stop the current insecurity challenges and other problems the nation is currently facing.
He stated that providing employment for the teeming unemployed youths will go a long way in curbing societal crimes and called on the youths to shun criminal acts.
Speaking on the non-prosecution of persons that have been arrested in connection with criminal activities, the Spiritual leader charged security operatives to prosecute any person arrested in connection with criminal activities irrespective of the person’s background, stressing that, in doing that, the interest of peace and security in the country will be protected.
Jingir therefore appealed to the Plateau Government to re-open the Muslim cemetery in Jos or provide them with alternative burial ground, adding “we purchase the land for burial of our members but recently we were denied access to the burial ground, without just cause, therefore we seek re-dress on the matter.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has called on Muslim faithful to donate generously towards ensuring the success of the competition through sponsorship of prize awards and other incentives to the winners of the competitions.
“If some of you spend millions of Naira to sponsor youths to watch football then you have a duty as Muslims to spend millions of Naira in ensuring the propagation of Islam, by assisting in the cash award, trip to Saudi Arabia for Hajj operation and other incentive for the winners in the competition,” he said.
At least, 160 participants are expected to compete in the one week competitions in six parts of the Holy Quran.
