The School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS) Funtua, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria has called on governments, spirited individuals and groups to come to its aid in the provision of physical infrastructure and other facilities.
The Director of the school, Professor Tanimu Abubakar who made the call when he visited Kaduna State Governor, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa in government House, Kaduna, said the current population of students in the school outweights the facilities
Abubakar said the school that started in 2001 with less than  a thousand students, now has over 5,000 from the nineteen northern states, just as Kaduna alone has almost 50 per cent of the number.
He stressed that Kano and Sokoto States, Alhaji Aminu Dantata as well as Funtua community had assisted the school by erecting buildings and hostel accommodation, adding that the institution needs a lot more for the comfort of the students and staff.
Responding, Governor Yakowa commended the role the preparatory school is playing in grooming students for undergraduate studies in ABU, saying that during the celebration of the golden jubilee of  ABU, SBRS would have a great place to be mentioned.
He promised that the request would be looked into soon or in 2013.
