FIFA agent throws weight behind Keshi
From IGNATIUS OKPARA, Enugu –
FEW days to the second leg of the last round of qualifiers for next year’s African Cup of Nations in South Africa, a FIFA- licensed players agent, Kester Ezuma, has expressed confidence in the nation’s head coach, Stephen Keshi to lead the Super Eagles safely to the ‘Promised Land’.
In an interview the Swiss-based, Infinite International Sports Academy chief executive stressed that coach Stephen Keshi was on the right track to qualification with the right blend of home-based stars and foreign-based stars in his re-building process for the senior national team.
The former Coal City Babes FC, ITF FC of Jos player in his playing days said “I strongly believe that Keshi is doing the right thing for our football. Within a shot space of time he has been able to turn things around in the Super Eagles where we can now boast of players from our domestic league jostling for positions with their foreign-based counterparts in the Eagles. This is a worthy venture and he needs to be encouraged. Who would have heard of the likes of Chigozie Agbim, Godfrey Oboabona, Ejike Uzoenyi, Reuben Gabriel and Sunday Mba in the world map of football if not for this opportunity created by Keshi?”
His words: “Like you know, there is always pressure to work in that position but coach Keshi is handling this very well and he will surely lead our Super Eagles to conquer other teams at the Nations Cup next year.
“It is not as if I am underrating our opponents in the last game of the qualifiers, Liberia, because in football anything is very possible but with the calibre of players called up by Keshi for this game, I don’t see us failing to pick one of the tickets to South Africa 2013.”
